South Carolina honors Chuck Green’s legacy in the golf industry
The South Carolina House of Representatives formally recognized Chuck Green with a special resolution celebrating his career. The honor, presented at the State House in Columbia, underscores Green’s contributions to the golf industry and his enduring impact on South Carolina’s golfing landscape.

Green, currently the director of operations at Quixote Club in Sumter, has spent more than 40 years advancing the art and science of golf course maintenance. His career highlights include leading renovations at prestigious courses such as Florence Country Club, Columbia Country Club and Sage Valley Golf Club — a nationally ranked facility he helped establish.
According to the resolution, Green’s work at Quixote Club exemplifies his vision for community-focused golf. Since joining the club in 2019, he has overseen a $13 million renovation that transformed the course into a modern masterpiece with input from Jack Nicklaus II and Kris Spence Golf Design. The redesign introduced elements like shortcut turf and open landscapes.
As a past president of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association, Green played a pivotal role in expanding the association’s annual Conference and Trade Show into the largest regional gathering of golf course superintendents in the U.S. His efforts earned him the association’s Distinguished Service Award last November — the highest honor it bestows.
The resolution highlighted Green’s influence as a mentor, citing 36 letters of support from colleagues, researchers and industry partners during his nomination process. His mentorship has shaped careers and strengthened ties within the tight-knit community of golf professionals.
Introduced by Rep. Roger Kirby with backing from 111 sponsors, the resolution praised Green’s contributions to South Carolina’s golfing heritage. It also acknowledged his instrumental role in establishing Clemson University’s Pee Dee Research and Education Center — a hub for turfgrass research that benefits courses statewide.
“I am deeply honored that the House of Representatives would choose to do this. I hope everyone who has supported me throughout my career takes pride in this recognition,“ said Green.
