Augusta National’s swift and secret rebuild ahead of the 2025 Masters

By |  April 4, 2025 0 Comments

Rory McIlroy made some headlines last week after making an early stop at Augusta National prior to the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park GC.

Last fall, Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeast U.S., and in its path was Augusta National. From what we know, Augusta experienced damage as a result of Hurricane Helene. Augusta has not released any information surrounding the damage or rebuilding effort.

It’ll be interesting to see how (and if) the course looks different, and how Augusta National Senior Director of Agronomy Brent Seyer and his team have worked their magic again and put everything back together like Phil Mickelson describes in his story above.

Of note, this will be Seyer’s first Masters as the man in charge of conditions — longtime Augusta National Director of Agronomy Brad Owen retired last year.
