KemperSports and Touchstone Golf recently announced a new strategic partnership, adding approximately 40 new facilities to Kemper’s growing portfolio. As part of the move, Touchstone will continue to operate as a division within KemperSports.

The acquisition strengthens KemperSports’ presence in the Western United States, particularly in California, where Touchstone has a strong foothold. Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports, emphasized aligning the companies’ visions: “We share a common vision focused on enhancing the golfer’s experience”.

Mark Luthman, formerly President of Touchstone Golf and a previous KemperSports executive, will return to KemperSports as executive vice president. He will oversee the transition and manage an expanding portfolio of daily fee clubs.

The merger combines KemperSports’ expertise in managing golf venues like Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and Sand Valley with Touchstone’s focus on daily fee and municipal courses. Notable Touchstone properties joining KemperSports include the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco and Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.

According to KemperSports, the consolidation reflects broader trends in the golf industry, where management companies seek growth opportunities and economies of scale. The combined entity is poised to leverage shared resources and best practices to enhance operations across its diverse portfolio.

As the golf industry continues to evolve post-pandemic, this partnership positions KemperSports to capitalize on the recent surge in golf participation while addressing the ongoing challenges that course owners and operators face.
