PBI-Gordon names Jeff Marvin, Ph.D., as vice president of research

PBI-Gordon Corporation has promoted Jeff Marvin, Ph.D., to vice president of research and development. Marvin, who joined the company in 2011 as director of field research, brings decades of experience in turf science, product development and collaborative management to his new role.
Marvin’s promotion comes as the U.S. turf and ornamental protection market is projected to grow from $2.78 billion in 2025 to $3.42 billion by 2030, driven by increased demand for sustainable solutions in golf courses, parks and public spaces. With a background that includes a bachelor’s in turfgrass science from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in plant and environmental science from Clemson University, the company said Marvin is positioned to lead innovation at a time when the industry is rapidly adopting advanced technologies and integrated pest management.
Before joining PBI-Gordon, Marvin managed the 54-hole Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee, Fla., giving him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by golf course superintendents and turf managers. At PBI-Gordon, he has overseen partnerships with more than 30 colleges and universities, driving research that supports the development of next-generation products for turf and ornamental professionals.
Marvin’s expertise can help PBI-Gordon deliver solutions that meet evolving regulatory standards and customer needs, especially as the industry shifts toward environmentally conscious practices.
Looking ahead, Marvin’s leadership is expected to further strengthen PBI-Gordon’s turf management involvement, benefiting both customers and the broader industry as demand for high-quality, sustainable green spaces continues to rise.
